GenderInSITE – Gender in Science, Innovation, Technology and Engineering – is an international initiative to make policy makers aware of the gender dimensions of science, technology and innovation. WISAT was represented by Sophia Huyer, WISAT Executive Director, at the inaugural meeting of ithe GenderInSITE Coordinating Group in Trieste, Italy on February 3 and 4.
GenderInSITE was founded by the Gender Advisory Board, UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (GAB-UNCSTD), the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and TWAS, the World Academy of Sciences. At the Trieste meeting it was decided to use the WISAT National Assessments on Gender and STI as the global benchmark for measuring the status of women in SITE across the developing world, providing evidence and justification for GenderInSITE activities. WISAT looks forward to an exciting and valuable collaboration for both parties!
